Afternoon Trek
Today we meet at Canberra Airport. We have a private transfer to transport us and our luggage to our accommodation for the next 2 nights.
Please arrive in comfortable clothes that you can take a relaxed stroll in. We recommend you wear your trekking shoes on the plane to be ready for the walk and ease of packing.
Once the luggage is collected, we board the mini bus to travel to Cooma for a snack at a local café, a chance to stretch our legs, buy a bottle of wine for a pre dinner drink and anything you may need from the supermarket.
We continue to our accommodation, time permitting, to take an afternoon walk to explore, to unpack and settle into our accommodation for the next 2 nights.
Tonight's dinner is at a local restaurant within walking distance of our accommodation.

Circuit Trek 22-24 km 8 - 10 hours
After a 7am breakfast we set off by mini bus to the trail head. The travel time is approximately 40 minutes with really beautiful scenery.
We commence our days trek on the majestic Main Range track. This day is a true GirlsTrek favourite, and all our effort is rewarded with the breathtaking views. We make a short descent towards the Snowy River, following a board walk path along the side of the mountain. Once we have crossed the river by swing bridge, we begin the long gradual climb to Mt Twynam, Australia's third highest mountain. We will stop for morning tea before continuing on to enjoy views to Mt Kosciuszko and Mt Townsend, Australia's second highest mountain.
Our return trek takes us on a different path back down the mountain, to admire the magnificent Blue Lake.
Returning to our accommodation by mini bus, there is time to relax and change into your comfy night-in clothes for a casual dinner in our accommodation.

Trek Thredbo River Track 10-12 km
We have a more leisurely approach to this morning with a later breakfast before we head off to enjoy a gentle 10 km trek along the Thredbo river. It is the perfect way to stretch out your legs and enjoy a more gentle day before our big trek to the summit of Mt Koscuiszko.
This walk takes in the beautiful twisted snow gums and sweet little snow daisy that follows the gushing river on a well formed undulating track. At the finish of the trek, we continue on to a Distillery for lunch.
After lunch we drive on to Thredbo Village to check into our accommodation, to relax for the afternoon or explore the Village at our own leisure.
Dinner tonight is at a local Thredbo restaurant.

Trek to Mt Kosciuszko summit return 24km 8-9 hours
We set out from Thredbo Village along the Thredbo River. The first part of the trail is undulating until we get to Dead Horse Gap, where we begin our steady climb that will continue to the summit.
This divine trek leads us through the snow gums and wild flowers to a field of granite and the endless views to the west. Brumbies still frequent this area of the park, however they are very shy and flighty and often scared by the robust Girl Trekker conversations coming up the hill!
From Eagles Nest it is 6.5km up hill to the summit. Once we have enjoyed the views from the summit we will return by the same path to Eagles Nest and take the chairlift down to the village. We may decide to take our time at the summit and walk the 3km track from Eagles Nest down the hill into Thredbo Village.
Tonight we celebrate our achievements with a delicious feast at the in-house restaurant at our accommodation.

Today, you can choose what you would like to do, go for an early morning guided walk around the golf course followed by some relaxing stretching or enjoy a sleep in. Breakfast is again in the hotel restaurant area. We aim to depart by 10:30am, taking a stop at a local winery to stretch our legs, enjoy a wine tasting and have a light lunch. This breaks up the 2 hour 30 minute drive to Canberra.
We continue onto the airport for our onward flights home.
You may choose to stay in Canberra for an extra night to have time to explore some of the sights in our nations capital.
