Why you should take your mum on holidays.

It’s pretty true that the older we get the more we appreciate our mothers. You may now be a mother yourself and understand how precious it is to have quality time with your children. As grown-ups we all become way too busy and distracted with our own lives and responsibilities. It’s probably true that our Mums can get a bit neglected.

A trip away is the perfect way to carve out some time together. And, if you are looking for an excuse for a holiday it’s a pretty good one. Here are some good reasons why you should just do it!

Your Mum will be chuffed

Bets on that if you pick up the phone and suggest that you would like to take your Mum on a quick get-away she will be stoked. Your Mum has spent so much time looking after you.  This is a great opportunity to show her you care about and value her.

Time to really talk

Travelling on aeroplanes and waiting in transit will provide you with plenty of time for a good natter. We all know women love to talk. It’s a fundamental part of connecting. It’s good for our well-being.

The memories actually matter

We don’t have our mothers forever. We need to make the most of now. Take lots of photos of your shared adventure. You really will treasure them as the years go by.

Experiences make us happier than things

We all have way too much stuff and it’s not making us any happier. A

20-year study conducted by Dr. Thomas Gilovich, a psychology professor at Cornell University, reached a powerful and straightforward conclusion: The trouble with things is that the happiness they provide fades quickly.

Find an activity and destination that you know you will both enjoy, pack your bags and go and have some good old-fashioned fun with your Mum.  The shared memories will nourish you forever.
